Business principles
TNT aims to be a trustworthy, values-based company with a reputation for integrity, transparency and compliance. To enhance that vision TNT has developed and implemented the TNT Integrity Programme and the TNT Business Principles and related policies and procedures. The TNT Business Principles deal with topics, such as:
TNT aims to be a trustworthy, values-based company with a reputation for integrity, transparency and compliance.
- compliance with laws and regulations
- accurate and timely disclosure
- transparency
- equal opportunities
- fair treatment
- conflict of interest
- corruption
- fair competition
- corporate responsibility.
It is crucial our people and business associates understand our principles – and incorporate them in their day to day behaviour. Awareness and understanding of the TNT Business Principles are enhanced via communication and live and web-based training. We are also integrating them into our strategic and operational decision-making processes. For example, an integrity due diligence procedure is part of our mergers and acquisitions process, and new employees all need to state that they know and understand our TNT Business Principles. Versions in other languages of the TNT Business Principles and related policies and procedures are available on request.
PACI is a platform for companies to mitigate corruption risks
Launched by CEO’s at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2004 in Davos, the Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI) was established to level the playing field among industry players and to help consolidate industry efforts on the issue. Today, PACI brings together over 120 companies from multiple industries and global locations, including industry leaders from multiple sectors, regardless of their size or affiliation with the World Economic Forum, to fight bribery and corruption.
To become engaged in PACI, CEO’s sign the PACI support statement, and thereby commit to a zero-tolerance policy towards bribery and corruption and agree to put in place an internal anti-corruption program that reflects the PACI Principles.
TNT’s role in PACI
Peter Bakker, together with other CEO’s and other representatives, is a member of the PACI Board since 2008.
TNT Group Integrity represents TNT in the PACI Task Force, which meets twice a year to shape the global anti-corruption agenda, review and shape initiative activities and tools and share good practice with peers from all regions of the world and multiple industries.
