Education
My name is Jacky Nabuurs and I studied Industrial Engineering and Management Science at Eindhoven University of Technology, focusing on Operations, Planning, and Control. During my course, I also studied for a time at Bogaziçi University in Istanbul and was involved in various extra-curricular activities. For example, I was on the general introduction committee, worked as a financial manager with UniPartners Netherlands, and was financial manager for the JADE world conference in 2006. I also did a number of internships, including with Philips Medical Systems and General Electric. I finally did my graduation project at TNT Post in the Billing & Document Solutions department (BDS). That showed me what an interesting and challenging working environment there is at TNT, with pleasant colleagues too. I also liked the fact that starters can take part in the Young Executive Programme and develop their competencies.
Working for TNT
At the moment, I’m working at the Planning department of TNT Post BDS. My duties and responsibilities consist partly of operational work such as planning (i.e. the efficient deployment of people and facilities), day-to-day coordination with the production floor, checking and coordinating customer planning, producing reports for management, etc. My work also involves supervising, initiating, and implementing a variety of programmes for improving planning and production. These vary from simple changes in current working methods to major projects requiring more time and energy for implementation. The challenge for me is to draw up, explain, and implement programmes for improving the current planning systems. It’s sometimes difficult to make changes because TNT is such an enormous organisation.
Training and development
TNT gives you lots of opportunity to develop, both individually and professionally through training sessions, courses, and coaching. The great thing about the Young Executive Programme is that the training provided allows you to experience developments and lessons learned and to profit from them not only during the training sessions but also in the job you’re actually doing. The YEP also gives starters the opportunity to take on positions within a number of different areas of the organisation.
