TNT opens new depot in the Philippines
12 August 2009
TNT has officially opened its new North Luzon depot in San Fernando, Pampanga, increasing the company's connectivity and presence – particularly in the special economic zones of Subic and Clark, as well as the rest of Northern Luzon.
The PHP15 million depot is part of TNT's continued investment in Southeast Asia, and is integral to the company's plans to build its presence and market reach in the Philippines, and across the region.
The depot's proximity to Subic, Clark, Angeles and Bataan economic zones provides the flexibility of extended pick-up and delivery cut-off times.
Capable of handling 400 tons of shipments per day, the depot boasts exceptional processing and turnaround of shipments.
As a transhipment hub, consignments from neighbouring locators pass through the depot for sorting, labelling and consolidating, ready for airline processing.
The new depot is expandable to accommodate heavy freight equipment and machinery, and can provide additional warehousing to nearby locators, serving as a Forward Stock Locator (FSL) for businesses with distribution requirements.
The facility is also connected to TNT's Global Track & Trace systems, enabling clients to monitor their shipments in real-time.
TNT Express Worldwide (Philippines) started its operations in 1982 with its first office in Makati City. The company now occupies 4,300 m2 in a prime cargo centre adjacent to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and has offices in the CBD (Makati City), Ortigas (Shaw Blvd), and Cebu.

Explosive performance from delivery giant TNT
13 August 2009
Express delivery giant TNT beat of stiff competition from other firms to pick up a handful of awards at the UK transport industry's equivalent of the Oscars.
The firm clinched the gongs at the annual Motor Transport Awards, giving the company a record haul of 29 awards in just 23 years - a feat unmatched by any other transport company.
The company, based at Cross Lane, Birkenshaw topped the judge's score cards in the three categories of Environment, International Operator of the Year and Fleet Engineer of the Year.
TNT made sure it further enhanced its green credentials by retaining the coveted Environment Award it won in 2008.
The judges praised the company for further improvements in its environmental performance and for continuing to encourage all employees and their families to reduce their carbon footprint wherever possible.
Suzy Bailey Hawke, general manager at the Birkenshaw depot, said: "The way things are going, it looks like our cleaning ladies will be working overtime polishing all our trophies!
"Seriously, we are delighted with our success - it represents independent recognition that we're doing things the right way.
"What's particularly satisfying is that these awards are highly-prized and hotly contested. For instance, we were up against the likes of well known brands such as Sainsbury's, Royal Mail and Argos, and to come out top is a great achievement."
Justin Stanton, editor of the RBI-published Motor Transport magazine - hosts of the awards, said: "TNT is the biggest success stories in the history of the awards stretching over three decades.
"Our independent judging panels scrutinise more than 100 entries every year and only the very best win an award.
"Consistently winning so many awards, year in, year out is a great achievement, and I congratulate TNT on its sustained success."
