TNT tops sustainability index for third year

11 September 2009

Global forwarding company TNT has topped the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as the 'Supersector leader' for industrial goods and services for the third consecutive year.

The results are the conclusion of a report put out by SAM, a sustainability investment specialist, whose job it was to assess 1,000 publicly listed companies.

With an overall score of 95 out of 100, TNT Australia Bob Black says the award is testament to the company’s ability to battle the financial storm and dome out into the sun.

"This achievement is a clear indication that we continue to take our corporate responsibility very seriously," Black says.

TNT offers solution for baggage-chaos

11 September 2009

Turin, Italy - Increasingly rising the demand for having the baggage delivered by express courier: +8,5% in 2008

(WAPA) - "Whilst waiting until a solution is found to the baggage chaos in the airports, TNT Express Italy is proposing a powerful 'Antidote' for the lack of service which is an added complication to the Italian travellers: the so called 'Baggage Service'.

It is the only one active in the Country and around the whole European Union, which enables the traveller to trust the baggage to the express courier to retrieve the baggage conveniently from home and to send the baggage directly to the desired destination. It is enough to call on 199-803868 or to go to one of the 134 subsidiary stations or to the 1500 Tnt outles (one of which offers its services from Malpensa) in order to bypass the baggage problems such as the extra weight which is imposed the low-cost airlines or the risk of not having the luggage delivered on arrival, all of this amount to a postage cost starting from EUR 26 inclusive of all-risk insurance.

This seems to be quite a competitive offer, especially when thinking that baggage handling, for around 13 airlines, can cost from EUR 4 to 20 and each kg in excess of this can also cost EUR 15, obviously without having the leisure of having it delivered directly to the place of destination.

Instead, TNT, is delivering the luggage directly to the hotel or the address instructed: there are already around 300 hotels in Italy (most of which are situated in touristic localities and thermals) which offer this service to their clients. This year more then 13,000 clients will benefit from the TNT Express Italy deliveries, amongst which the most frequent users will be motorcyclists, who traditionally are forced to renounce to most of their baggage in order to travel with their motorcycles.

The frequency of the availability of the TNT service in the Italian territory, makes the service one of a kind: with its 134 subsidiaries, its 5 planes and its 3200 vehicles, TNT is definitely able to arrive all around Italy and in the most common European destinations in less the 24 hours".
