International unions and TNT discuss conditions of employment

26 March 2008, 17:45 CET - Amsterdam, TNT representatives today held constructive talks with a delegation from the international umbrella union UNI (Union Network International). Besides UNI, Abva/Kabo, FNV Bondgenoten and the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) took part in the discussion.

The talks aimed to clarify the parties' positions on the conditions of employment for postal sector employees in the various countries where TNT operates. The conditions of employment in the postal sectors of Germany and the Netherlands received a particular attention.

"We have had constructive talks", said Herna Verhagen, TNT's Managing Director Group HR. TNT has always been in favour of a fair and realistic minimum wage. Verhagen: "The minimum wage, however, must not be misused to hinder competition or protect one of the market players."
