It covers child labour, forced labour, health and safety, freedom of association and right to collective bargaining, discrimination, discipline, working hours, compensation and management systems. To ensure compliance with UN declarations on human rights and the ILO labour and decent work conventions, TNT is working on SA 8000 certification of all sites outside the OECD countries by end 2007. Several sites in the OECD, namely Express sites in Italy and Portugal have already achieved certification, but the focus will remain on non-OECD countries until the end of 2007.

From July 2005 onwards, SA 8000 certification will be reported by entities in the non-OECD countries.
